  Originally founded as the Department of International Studies in 2001,
the focus of the school moved from Practical to Applied English in accordance
with the requirements of the MOE in 2005. This discipline aims to train professional application orientated graduates with excellent English, translation and office IT skills, combined with a thorough understanding of foreign trade business methods and procedures. The course content is designed to meet the needs of the foreign trade industry of Zhejiang, which is second only to that of Guangdong Province.

  The specialty of Tourism English was established in 2006, with the purpose of training professional application orientated graduates for administrative occupations in the tourism industry. Zhejiang Province, with its high growth rate in the industrial and tertiary sectors, attracts numerous business travelers and there is a high demand for personnel specialized in this field.

  The school offers student-centered and job-orientated training, while concentrating on English language competency by using English as the delivery method for the business course modules. Thus the School's curriculum is implemented using its unique system of ^hierarchies within course modules ̄ pedagogy. Additionally, the school has developed close ties with local industry and can offer related work experience opportunities.

  At present, the school offers a three year diploma it will introduce a four year academic degree qualification in English, with an emphasis on foreign trade, starting September, 2008. Furthermore, a similar three year program in Japanese will also be offered. A high percentage of graduates from the school have been successfully employed in positions commensurate with their qualifications. Their creativity, competence and abilities have been highly praised.
